A HOMILY DELIVERED ON THE 4TH SUNDAY OF LENT AT ST. PETER’S CHAPLAINCY, UNN

Otito Diri Jesu!
Last Sunday, we reflected the homily from the first reading and concluded with the gospel. But today, we shall begin with the gospel and conclude with the first reading. However, there is a close similarity between the two reflections because we shall dwell more on the first reading ( 1Sam. 16:1-13) just like we did last Sunday on Ex.17 : 3-7. This is predicated on the fact that the gospels of the two Sundays are voluminous (about 41 verses). And I like being detailed on a particular passage within the fewest minutes that is not up to 15 minutes for Sunday homilies. (more…)

A HOMILY DELIVERED ON OUR CONVOCATION EVE AT MOTHER BIGARD ENUGU.
May the name of the Lord be praised both now and forever! Amen.

When I was a deacon, it seemed as if I was restricted to this pulpit during homily with a sheet of paper in which some points have been put down whether used or not. But now that I’m a priest, I wish to crave the indulgence of my most revered formators in order to engage in a heart to heart talk with my beloved brothers. (more…)

A HOMILY DELIVERED AT ST PETER’S CHAPLAINCY, UNN

Otito diri Jesu!

Today’s gospel reading is really a very long one (Jn.4:5-42). I would prefer we dwell on the first reading (Ex.17:3-7) and conclude with the gospel. Everyone could feel disappointed with the Israelites for their complaint in spite of all that God has done for them through Moses. But only those who have been through what it means to be thirsty as they walk through the desert, maybe from Nigeria to Libya, could feel a glimpse of their pitiable situation at that moment. Howeveer, I do not intend to justify their approach because It was a gross lack of faith in God. (more…)

LIFE AND ITS UNCERTAINTIES… VOL.7 NO.6

A Godless reflection about the essence of human existence sometimes leaves one with sorrows and regrets forever appearing in this cosmos. It is a world that is unpredictable and indeterminate. A world that is masque, disguised and blurred. It eludes, confuses and obscures man. It is sometimes common place, neutral, strange, bizzare, paradoxical, extravagant and unbelievable. Nevertheless, it is still habitable. (more…)
